Two of the most important characteristic of good designs are:

1.- Discoverability

2.- Understanding  

Discoverability: is it possible to even figure out what action are possible and where and how to perform then. 

Understanding: what does it all mean? how is the product supposed to be used?  what do all different controls and setting means? 


The relevant components must be visible, and they must communicate the correct message:

1.- what actions are possible?

2.- where and how should they be done?

Confusing tech design make lose the purpose of the design itself. 

The complexity of modern devices 

All artificial things are designed not all designed things involve physical structures… 

Even though people have designer things since pre-historic times, the field of design is relatively new, divided into many areas of specialty.

In the best of cases, the product should be also delightful an enjoyable – attention must be paid to the entire experience- which means the aesthetics of form and quality of interaction.!!

  • Interaction design: focus on understandability and usability.
  • Experience design: emphasised the emotional impact.

Industrial design:

Is the professional serving of create, develop concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value and appearance of products and systems for the mutual  benefit (users and manufactures).

Interaction design:

The goal is to enhance peoples understanding of what can be done. What is happening and what has occurred . Interaction design draw upon principles of psychology, design, art and emotion to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience.

Experience design: 

The practice of designing products, Processes, Services, events and environment with a focus planed – place- on the quality and enjoyment of the total experience.


Design is concerned with how things work, how they are controlled, the nature of the interaction between people and technology.

When Done well, the results are brilliant and Pleasurable products; when it’s done badly, the products are unusable, leading to the great frustration and irritation. They might be usable, but force us to behave the way the Product wants rather than like we wish. 

The reasons for the deficiencies in human machine interactions are numerous. Some come from the self imposed restrictions by the designers, often to hold down coast. But most of the problems comes from a complete lack of understanding of the design principles, Necessary for effective human-machine interaction.
